And a new blog post where I talk about attitude and how it can affect your film: http://mattscottvisuals.com/blog/2013/4/23/the-snap-factory-a-film-by-luke-launer

I am learning and learning by you Matthew. I will share soon what I learned from you. Thank you a lot! In your pictures I see very detailed skin. From your post and from your blog I know that the possible reasons for very detailed skin are right light (softbox or similiar shaped led) and makeup. My last few projects I have used makeup and light to shape the actor's face and I have good results. But not so detailed. (I can share it too but it not from RED's camera and this fact broke forum's rules I think). On the last project I even tried to gain skin's highlights in the cc software. Looked better but not so detailed as in your shots. Can you please advice me what can I do additionnally to get so detailed skin? Get a camera from RED? ;)

Thanks Andrey! I'm glad you're learning from my sharing hehe :) For detailed skin, or detail of any sort, it helps to create perception of detail using contrast. Frontal light flattens and hides detail where as side and top light enhance detail. That, and the use of shallow depth of field, a sharp lens and spot-on focus :) Looking forward to seeing some of your work!

Matt
