Asus ProArt PA32DC OLED Review

Note it's only a proposed addendum, and it's still a 1.0 document. Everything I said above is still true.
Wrong again, Marc. It is not a proposed addendum, it is an addendum, pure and simple; and as such, it contains language no different from that of DCI’s sundry other documents, namely the following:

This document is a specification developed and adopted by Digital Cinema Initiatives, LLC. This document may be revised by DCI. It is intended solely as a guide for companies interested in developing products, which can be compatible with other products, developed using this document. Each DCI member company shall decide independently the extent to which it will utilize, or require adherence to, these specifications.

Watch the video and consider what I've said: that Dolby Vision standards are changing

Show us the memo, Marc… you know, the one that shows DV is changing their theatrical specs, as you claim. Oh right, you CAN’T! The video isn’t even about Dolby Vision!

Very little of what you’ve written is factual - nothing but personal opinions, hearsay and rattling off of random nit targets that are completely pointless without any context.

You are mistaken. Normal projection for D-Cinema is still 48 nits.

Your comments defy all logic, Marc. I never said a word in this thread about SDR standards.

Have you ever actually used a Grade-1 mastering display for judging color?

Assuming your'e talking about Grade 1 HDR, no, I haven’t - and neither has anyone else for that matter.

But here's the reality: I would say more than 90% of the projectors out there -- all Xenon -- are still running the old DCI SDR standard. It's true that laser projection can go far above that and stay fairly stable, and this has been true since Christie's original 6P for 9-10 years ago. I like the look of laser projectors quite a bit, and the blacks in particular look really solid. Even in "Fake IMAX" theaters with double-stacked 4K projectors, it can look exceptionally good. But I think setups like this are not exactly affordable, and I don't know a lot of post houses that have more than one laser projector in the building. As a future concept, it's great. But it has nothing to do with Asus OLED displays.

Exactly, nothing you’ve written has got anything at all to do with the topic of this thread.

Returning to the PA32DC, the lack of a 48Hz panel refresh rate is yet another issue.

Cullen Kelly explains when you'll need a 1,000 nit reference monitor regardless of whether you’re working with an A-list director or whether or not your client wants to limit specular highlights to 200 nits.
