Assimilate got sued by Autodesk?!

I was suggesting the post be RESUBMITTED by a poster with an identity!! As someone on here noted, I was TRYING to get poster to share some info on himself.

Not only is the topic important, but the source of the information, and the agenda behind it's release is also important.

Jay

My agenda is very simple. All I wanted was to know as much as possible about this subject, and I thought this was the place to find out.

Just to be clear, I am NOT the source of any information, I only asked about it, and what did you guys know, honestly, I was wondering why noone had mentioned it on this board, and thats why I went ahead and mentioned it.

I dont work for any of these manufacturers OR resellers And at the facility i work we haven't invested in any technologies that are either from assimilate or are threatened by their software.

All I did was bring a fact to the attention of the members in this forum. Had I not done so, FXGUIDE.COM would have runed with the story anyways, or did you not notice that autodesk posted the COMPLETE lawsuit on their web servers?

FXGUIDE.COM has the link to it & a ton more info.

I must admit I am curious about the whole thing, but it has not changed a thing for me. I will still be using Scratch for our DI/grading. No doubt about it.

(...)

From Assimilate's perspective (...)
This is decent enough.

(...)

For anybody on Reduser reading this, be advised that, due to the nature of litigation, everybody at ASSIMILATE is limited as to what we can say from this point forward.
This is fair enough.

The rest is up to the judge. Or further agreement between parties. The thread is already enough done. This thread should be closed.

So annoying of Autodesk - as far as I understand, all the mess because of a couple UI features. Sounds stupid and inappropriate, especially from a gigantic company that already dominates the market - I think there's no need to hunt down smaller companies to prove it.

The issue rises - I guess - because it looks like Assimilate aren't THAT small anymore.

All major plug-ins developers, develop plugs for Scratch.
RED has put Scratch in the centre of attention.
The Adobe deal - whatever it means else - DOES mean that Scratch is not a small company all on its own @ all, even if the Implication should be that we see Scratch as a part of CS6...

BTW - I have no thoughts about the case, other than that it is interesting to see diferent developments in the industry...

Why this insistence to close this thread?

It's an issue that just started with many forthcoming developments that could be discussed here.
Insistence from who? That was my only post at this thread so far. Do I have this right? Did I?

First off, this is a sensitive matter;

2ndly, they have been accused of a serious and infamous offense -- I wouldn't like to have my name (t)here;

3rd, this is now a trial's subject;

4th, any response from someone connected with Assimilate here can be used against them on trial;

5th, they cannot respond to any doubt addressed here, so it's not a balanced or even an open and free discussion;

and so on...

Last but not least, Lucas is part of us. I'm not his customer. Nor I've had any touch with him on these board pages before. But I know who he is. And I'm used to use solidarity with my brothers wherever I am.

I stand my vote for closing. Any «forthcoming developments» should be placed after the contenders will solve their own dispute on the right forum, for now.

:) Chill out man! :biggrin:

You are not the only asking for this thread to be deleted.

If you fear that someone will use your comments in court then don't post here. It's simple. Others might want to ask something on the subject or give answers if they have any.

:calm:

You're starting well, no doubts here. :-)

There's a difference between closing and deleting.

On your «fear» quote, who's saying that? It's just a matter of ethics.

I second that.

Even if I would have some comments to do, they would never be used there. That's not the point. I'm not even party...

Speculation can harm who is not able to defend the own honor in a free manner now, not negotiable or susceptible of discussion. Besides that, FUD... which can provoke serious business damages -- not fair IMO.

Well ... anyone can make FUD. But smart people don't buy into FUD.

I'm happy to close this thread anytime - but I just think another will start up as REDUSER is breeding ground for speculation and conspiracy theories.

The truth will come out in the wash.
