Looking for a multi user solution for cataloging and organizing .R3D files.

There are literally tons of DAM software options, but the only option I can see that supports .r3d is Razuna.

I am looking to have a database of .R3D files that can be accessed by multiple users over our network. We currently have about 50TB of RED content on our office NAS that is shared between 3 workstations. We edit and complete everything from the network. The only bummer is finding and locating the files we want. Right now it is "Dude, you know, that one shot from Iceland? It was like the first day, first mag I think" which takes some time.

I'd love to have a very simple database that previews and thumbnails the R3D files. That a few of us can access, and that we can search based on metadata and entered keywords. We are PC based, but have Linux servers and 2 NAS systems containing the content.

I've tried foolcat, which doesn't really check all the boxes, but is an elegant and nice piece of software. It's Mac only but I have tested it out on my Macbook just to see.

Bridge stinks because no multi user, and it's R3D previews suck.

CatDV requires Quicktime wrappers, which is cool, if it is 2009.

Daminion looks cool, but again - no R3D.

As far as I can tell Razuna requires the media to be imported to the Razuna server. That stinks because I need to build another 50tb server. I'd rather just have it reference the existing media.

Lightroom is pretty cool. Except it isn't multi user, and all the workarounds to try and fool it are not ideal. I've made an iSCSI drive to fool it and store the catalog, and shared that. Which sorta works. But it's previewing and importing kind of stink. IMO.

Any ideas? I really wish REDCINE-X had a simple database and metadata search. It would be perfect.

Hi Matt

We are Mac based but we've been using a program called NeoFinder, they seem to have some way to bridge with PC anyway check out the link below:

it is compatable with R3d but you need to Have Redcine X installed for some reason, it works well across a small network for us.

This is is after years of trying more expenses solutions.

Good luck

Adrian

We use NeoFinder - works great and can be a 'pro' license for networked stage and workstations - multi-user.

Is the PC version just as good? I cant find anything on this.
