ASHANTI "LET IT SNOW" - for Lifetime

Hey guys, one last piece to post before the holidays. Here's a great piece we did with Ashanti, for Lifetime. She was recording her new holiday song "Let it Snow", and we got a chance to film her as she worked, and interview her afterwards. Came out pretty great.

Shot by the one and only Ryan De Franco, who did a KILLER JOB! On two Scarlets with my Contax Glass. There is also some Classic Soft on there.

Edited by my great friend Shawn Gaiero, who did a SUPERB JOB as well!

And of course Jake Blackstone crushed the grade, yet again. He is a monster. Happy holidays all!!!

This job had a s super quick turnaround and because of that, I had to grade it from edited rendered Prores timeline. Also, I had to do a super quick beauty clean up because a few close ups had some skin issues. Normally, I would do it with Mocha and AE and may be some Photoshop, but because of time constraints, I had to try a quick and dirty clean up in Resolve. Thanks to great Resolve tracker, I was able to do respectable job in the allotted time. Since doing that job I had done two more beauty clean ups and I have to admit, when it must be done quickly, results I'm getting out of Resolve are pretty good.
All in all it was a fun project.
PS. I din't "crash the grade", because the word "crashed" applied to video have very negative connotations

What a fun video, you guys are rocking. I like the shots in the booth, specially the one where she turns around really quick at :30 (i think that really shows her personality, which is hard to do in a small time period).

Thanks Patrick. Yeah, it's been a wild couple of months. Lots of changes in my life, lots of new professional relationships. Looking forward to seeing where this all goes! Biggest change was me buying my own RED, and putting myself out there as a director/producer. I've been getting lots of work, and several new opportunities have presented themselves. Which is something new for me.

Yeah, I love that reverse shot of her as well!!! That's on the 60 2.8 Macro too, one of my fave lenses. My editor Shawn did a terrific job on the edit as well. It all came together on this one!!!
