  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

As a 1st AC should I have a reel ?

Thanks Francesco!! :D

PS, Italy is beautiful. I lived and worked in Bosnia & Hercezgovina for a few years and almost AC'd for a cruise line commercial there. Passed the job onto a buddy, and totally regretted it. SOOO amazing, and I sort of regret it to this day. Soak it up! I bet it's remarkable!!!! :D

I've lived here most of my life, and while I agree it's a stunning place (I've been based in Rome for almost 6 years now and it's overwhelming, and lived in beautiful Tuscany for 9 years before that), I'm afraid to say it's getting harder and harder to live here for, well, pretty much everyone, but especially if you are in whatever we like to call the film industry. With 13% unemployment (which in our "industry" is way higher than that, considering 80% of the film workers work less than 78 days a year) and a fiscal pressure above 50%, we are now officially in survival mode. Bottom line: great for holidays, great if you come from abroad and have a job here for a few weeks (or months), but ultimately bad for living. And this comes from a half-full glass kind-of-guy like myself. Sorry for the depressing off-topic rant, Joshua :-)

I'd say its a number of things including: referrals from other DPs, maybe a little imdb or credits research, watching a finished film that this person worked on, and some type of phone interview. A lot of it is about finding a chemistry since a DP and 1st AC literally stand within inches of each other for six to ten hours a day on a job.
