Hello,
We have recently just started testing with a REDOne camera. Very happy with the results so far- except when rendering one from the RED Raw file to DPX/Tiff image sequence we are noticing an artifact in the picture and our guess is that this is due to how the information is getting put back together in the rendering program- please see pictures linked to this post for reference. I have been using mostly REDAlert which has more rendering options than REDCine. Basically our footage is 4K 2:1, we are shooting a subject over a green screen outdoors on a sunny day. I have tried different rendering options on REDAlert but the artifact are still there. We were thinking the debayer was the first thing to look into- but that didnt solve the issue yet. I will continue testing different options- but I wanted to post this here to see if anybody had any thoughts.

The images you see linked to this post are blown up substantially- but the point is that these artifacts should not be present the way they are in the picture to begin with.

Thanks in advance,
- Henrique

Hi, We are using build 3.2.5- also the latest versions of REDAlert & REDCine.

I'm also in the guessing business when it comes to these export settings as there's little information about that. Looking at your settings I wonder if the problem might be that you're trying to both soften the image with heavy denoise and at the same time sharpen with heavy olpf compensation and high debayer detail.
Have you tried a softer resample filter aswell? The catmulrom is labeled sharp.
In short... lots and lots of sharpening going on here and the problem seems to be with the edges, hence I'm guessing that might be the problem. Emphasis on guessing here :)
Try an export with all settings set to the softest alternative and see what you get. If you havn't already...

that's to much detail enhancement, pal!

Looks like sharpening artifacts. Isn't the OLPF Compensation similar to sharpen? I'd try lowering that and maybe lowering detail too. You can always sharpen at the end after you've pulled a much nicer key.

Thanks for the suggestions guys- I definitely see an improvement. I will keep testing different combinations and see what will come out with the best result.
