  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Arri MB20 & FF-5

Go with the FF4. Also, 24" rods are a bit long, I made that mistake and am looking to get some 18" as well. I went with 15mm rods and spacing from ET and Arri sold me adapters for the MB-20 and FF-4

You will need the bridge plate adaptors for the MB20 and the FF to work with 19mm rods. Yes, go with FF4, not 5.

Keep in mind though, if you go with the ARRI products there is a waiting period right now for the adaptors.

Aaron at Filmtools can help you out.

A reminder that Abel is still offering special bundle pricing on a direct deal from Arri for redusers.

I would go with the Redrock Mattebox. Very reasonable price! I already have a MB20 but canceled the 2nd one to go with the Redrock. Arri is on crack with there rates plus the weak dollar. You could buy 8 Redrocks for the cost of one Arri! Just my 2 cents!

Just talked to Arri.

For MB20 matteboxes, 15mm & 19mm adaptors are in stock.

For FF4 followfocuses, 15mm bridgeplate adaptors are in stock.

There are a bunch of little bits & pieces that are on backorder for the next month. Unfortunately these include the 19mm adaptor for the FF4.

Hi, is there anyone that can confirm that I will need to order the 19mm studio rod adapter with the MB20 matte box and also the 19mm rod adaptor for the FF-5 in addition to the matte box and follow focus themselves?

I just want to make sure I am ordering the right things. I am ordering from www.filmtools.com

As far as I can tell I need the following:

MB20 Matte Box
MB20 Filter Trays (2)
MB20 Side Flag Set
MB20 Top Flag
MB20 19mm Rod Adaptor
FF5 Follow Focus
FF5 19mm Rod Adaptor

Can anyone confirm before I place the order?

Thanks,

Rich

Hi Rich,

You're absolutely correct, you will need those 19mm rod adapters. Send me an e-mail, or give me a call, and I can write up a quote for you.

Talk to you soon,
Catherine

Catherine Russell is the new Mitch Gross!

Its about time, competition is healthy.
Besides i think mitch was starting to get a little repetitive.

International Purchasing

International Purchasing

But until Filmtools loosens up on their international shipping/credit card handling, I am all Mitch's...

Hi Frederik,

I can understand your frustration, but I think there may be a misconception about our international policy, as we do sell quite a bit internationally. With very few exceptions, we can accept international credit cards, and attempt to manually verify the billing information. If everything checks out, we have absolutely no problem accepting an international credit card as payment.

We recognize that our website has not accepted international credit cards as smoothly as possible, but we're completely revamping our website and order fulfillment system to make the entire process far more efficient for all of us. One of the options we are particularly excited about is a mirror website exclusive to our European customers.

If you have any questions, or you would like a shipping estimate, please feel free to give us a call, or you can call or e-mail me directly.

Good news. Any reason Norway isn't listed here here?
Filmtools is proud to service the following countries in addition to the United States: Antarctica, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, England (UK), Fiji, Finland, Germany, Greece, Greenland, Iceland, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Poland, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the US Virgin Islands.

Hi Fredrik,

I can't speak to how that list of countries was decided upon for purchasing through our website - that's not my area.

I can tell you that we accept international orders via e-mail or telephone, and I would be more than happy to work with any of you on a quote, or an order.

**EDIT**: I spoke with the Operations Manager regarding France and Norway's absence from the list of countries that can purchase on our website. I was informed that most banks in France and Norway do not participate in the Address Verification System (AVS), which means billing addresses from those countries cannot be verified. Again, though, we accept international orders via e-mail or telephone - just not always for payment via credit card.

I got nailed rather badly recently for an order in which filmtools insisted on a bank transfer (depite the fact that this was repeat business from me) and then added a 40 dollar bank-transfer charge to the invoice (which I might add would have already cost me 32 euros in my bank) - all this for two tiffen filters.

sorry to say I went back to B&H with my cap in hand.
