  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Arri FF4 or O'Connor CFF-1?

Any issues with the FF4 and the RPPs?

No, a match made in heaven ;-)

Also keep in mind if you plan to rent equipment, you need accessories that rent easily, Arri has been a household name in followfocus systems forever, and the focuspullers are used to them.

(BTW: I love Oconnor, just put in my order for 2065 at Abelcine)

Yea, FF-4 for the win. It might not have all the bells and whistles as the O'Connor, but I love it and it gets rented out all the time

+1 for the FF-4 with RPP's. Perfect. And yes, rental customers always love having it in the kit.

Now again from the other camp :-)

Sorry to hear that Eric Ulbrich's unit had problems. Assembly and QC are human disciplines and unfortunately it looks like something slipped through that shouldn't have. That said, the dedication and expertise of the people on the production line at Camera Dynamics/OConnor matches or betters that of anywhere else I've worked. Bar none. I've had experience watching and working with engineers and machinists from Britain, Germany and America, and can say that equally good stuff comes out when you have equally good people.

There are things you can do with the CFF-1 that you can't do with other products. The best thing to do is to analyze your needs carefully for now and the future and get the product that suits. But remember that you don't initially need to use all the adjustments on the CFF-1, if you don't want to... for example, if improved lens witness mark visibility isn't important to you, you can basically leave the dovetail slide locked. If you've a set of lenses where putting the arm on the other side isn't relevant, just leave it attached to one side. For the user concentrating on simplicity, it is important to recognize that there are four levers you can basically leave alone and the CFF-1 will not end up doing any LESS than another product. The MORE that the CFF-1 offers can then always remain an option until you have the time and desire to learn it. One mistake that people often make when faced with accessories that bump the state-of-the-art is that they try to tackle it all in one chunk in a production environment, then become dismayed because there's a lot to think about and remember... and at the same time they're trying to make their pages.

We have a user guide online that illustrates very well what the product is capable of:
