I am looking for a solid, versatile and pro FF that works well with both PL glass and Canon L Still lenses.

So is the Arri FF-4 the suitable also for still glass?

The FF-1 does not seem to be fully pro, at least not for PLs.

Chrosziel Studio Follow Focus or the new O'Connor Follow Focus has some nice features for still glass.

i need a FF that works great for both cine and still glass, but I'll look into the Chrosziel and O'Connor too

I think you'll find that a FF that is great for PLs (2:1 ratio) is inherently not ideal for still primes and vice versa. Pretty sure ARRI makes 2 versions of all of their FF-systems for one or the other depending on the glass, I'm not aware of any FF's that allow you to change the ratio from 2:1-to-1:1 immediately. The only way to change the ratio I can think of if you have just one FF would be to have different drive gear options on hand. The smaller the drive gear, the longer the throw of the lens becomes through the focus-wheel.

Maybe get an ARRI for PL's and something like the Shoot35 FF (which honestly feels about as good as an ARRI) for still glass?

i agree with the manual FFs being louzy on still glass, but what can you do while waiting for the redmote pro?

and that's why i need an really pro cine FF that also works with still glass...

Are you using 19mm or 15mm rods? The reason I ask is because if you're using 15mm rods and have the budget, I'd recommend buying the ARRI of your choice for PLs and also buying a Shoot35 for the still lenses. The Shoot35 is pretty basic, but built like a tank and very affordable (under $550 US). I'm assuming the type of shooting you're doing involves challenging focus-pulls, otherwise maybe it's over-kill to buy 2 FFs to cover all the bases (PLs and still lenses).

maybe this could be it! thanks

The FF4 is fine for all lenses provided you use the proper gearing. No AF still lenses have a proper focus throw for a manual follow focus so you might as well get the smoothest most robust u it out there, the FF4. The only still specific FF I've seen that looks good is the IDC system.
