I am curious why Arri is making and marketing accessories for Alexa, Sony F55, canon 300 & 500s but nothing for Red.

What is this about?

When I first hit the marketplace with RedOne #19 in 2007 I quickly realized that to be taken even semi-seriously by experienced crews I needed industry standard AKS. I purchased an ARRI MB20Mk2 matte-box, brackets, eyebrow, side flags, Schneider filters, etc at a cost of roughly $8,000. Over the next 2 years in the field the ARRI MB20Mk2 kept losing pop-rivets until the side flags were no longer functional. I took the MB20 to ARRI Burbank for repair as replacing them with new side flags cost $600. I have yet to get them back over 3 years later.

ARRI gear is bulletproof my ass.

There, I feel a little better now.

Anything in particular that you are looking for Peter?

The "shoulder rig" that I looked at in the link above looks absolutely hideous and unusable to me... nothing like the Arri stuff I know to be good:

Matteboxes and Follow Focii (FF4 is an industry standard for good reason)

@ Blair - no reason anything should sit anywhere for three years if you are active in making sure you get it back. Pop Rivets are easy enough to pop in... Sorry to hear about that though... That sounds more like a customer service FAIL than anything else.

Screw the MB20II. Go with the Bright Tangerine Strummer: http://www.brighttangerine.com/product-landing/strummer/4

Andy, the owner and designer worked at Arri for years and then left to start his own company. Not only do they outperform Arri, they have features no one else offers.

Blair, they haven't returned your gear to you?? That's awful

I contacted them 4 or 5 times that first year or so, then I got busy/frustrated, and, in retrospect kind of blocked it out since seething in frustration just fueled anxiety.

It is absolutely their fault for not being able to repair the flags and get them back to me in a reasonable time frame.

It's on me that I didn't go to ARRI Burbank and demand the parts back.

That's not really your responsibility. after a customer calls in 2-3 times, any reasonable organization should man up and just return the product if they don't realistically see themselves resolving the issue. this type of strategy played by companies is either "we're completely inept" or "maybe the customer will completely forgot and stop calling us". Either one, is, like I said, pretty awful.
