nice steady dolly work. What setup did you use? pictures? any motion control in AE?

Hi Will, thanks...
For the dolly shots I used a homemade track/dolly that I put together for about $100. No motion control in post either however, I did need to adjust the speed in several places so that the final shot remained a constant speed throughout its entirety.
Here is an image of the dolly:

Thanks Paul, awesome dolly work. Love to hear it was made for $100.

Paul, I love it.
Im a big Kubrick fan.
i wonder in the last dolly shot, did you remove the tracks in post?
if not, why we can not see them?

Your answer is in the comments section :)

I use a homemade dolly for all the shots. The end shot moving toward the photo was shot in reverse so I could remove the sections of track that would have been visible by the camera. Thanks for watching :)

Luckily I was able to remove it while shooting - what I did was pull back from the photo until first section of track became visible, stopped dolly, and removed the track. Then pushed dolly forward about 2 feet and began moving in reverse again until next section of track appeared. I just prayed I'd be able to edit out the stops in post without too much pain and luckily it worked :)

This reminds me of Channel 4 London's tribute to The Shining a few years ago...

Pretty stunning piece.
