  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Ariana's new video dropped today and is doing gangbusters... throttled YouTube with 600,000 views the first second the video launched and as of 8 hours in, it's up to 26 million views... Nice!

Shot on Monstro cameras in 7K ANA mode, entirely either 48fps or 60fps with Altas Orion anamorhics and a few Hawk Vintage 74 for wider and tighter options.

Congrats on the video.
Just on question, it looks like there are a lot of shots slightly out of focus. Was it due to the softness of the lenses? Mostly on the ITW sequence at the beginning.

Excellent work as usual Christopher! I've only used the Hawks did you see any big differences in the Altas Orion's?

From reading raves in Variety to even our local Toronto Star Newspaper reported on it, It's really well done and definitely a huge impact in such a short release time!

No, a camera assistant I hadn't worked with before and the majority of the shots on Steadicam... Unfortunate, but it happens.

Was a 3-day shoot. We had one day at a house in the San Fernando Valley in LA. Another day on stage where we built some sets, and then a day at a high school.

I never use diffusion on the lens... That said, most music videos go through "beauty" cleanup, which is some vfx house cleaning up any blemishes the artist may have... Also negating the logic of using diffusion unless there's other reasons for wanting to add a filter... like glowing the highlights around practicals or something. Otherwise, I try to model the light as optimally as I can, use soft sources and always watch for any shadows on faces.

Question though, what was up with the audio in the dialogue scene? sounded pretty scratchy with a super heavy gate on it..
