  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Arhhh...

It doesn't annoy me as much as someone calling me a 'videographer'...

Anyways, now I'm going to go video some things with my scarlett.

Oh man somebody who refers to himself as a videographer and shoots weddings once referred to me as a videographer and I got so annoyed at him....

It's moot, not mute!!

But usually I avoid being the spelling & grammar police. Many people here do not have English as their first language. And some are dyslexic.
 
Another killer that I see often is 'payed' rather than 'paid'.

Worst thing anyone can call a one man band is a "freelancer" in my eyes.
It is a degrading title, but that is a personal opinion ofcourse.
Actually bit the head of on a random fella asking me if I was freelancing. So be it, we are still friends..

I majored in history and didn't finish my English degree, but I believe both "payed" and "paid" are technically correct. :blush:

They are both words, but have different uses.

Paid is used when talking about money, etc. e.g. "I paid you the money."
Payed is used to refer to loosening rope, e.g. "He payed out the rope on the boat".


Having said that, my disclaimer is that I speak English, not American.
 
How about:

- Putting X at the end of everything you sell for no reason.

Also:

- Saying "there's" or "there is" and then have the subject be plural as in "there's reasons I don't put an X at the end of Scarlet."
- Starting sentences with "so..."
- typing "hmmm"
- Sprinkling the word "like" throughout your speech so that you can take more of your listener's time while actually saying less.
- Ending statements with an climbing tone as if they're questions.
- insisting on cutie-fying every word like "indie," "panny," "scriptie," "craftie," "footy," etc.
- deliberately killing people's sales threads even while knowing it's explicitly against the forum rules apart from being spectacularly rude.

I could go on.

If you're a freelancer you are technically a business owner. If you are a videographer then you make videos (weddings, birthdays, graduations, etc.).

Although I understand people spending words incorrectly every once and a while, I more so dislike the sounds of words, like "moist" or when people make slurping and smacking sounds while eating. By far my biggest pet peeve!
 
If you want to get be called the wrong thing on top of being ignored try being a Production Mixer. Sound Guy (not so bad), Sound Engineer, etc. The worst is Sound Tech, as if you're there to repair their stereo. Be glad that even if you're the "videographer" you're still going to be communicated with while the Mixer is ignored.
