  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Are there PL Mount lens extenders that work with Anamorphic lenses?

Hey, guys. I recently splurged on a 75mm Kowa Anamorphic and am loving it and want a longer option to accompany it, but have heard poor things about the 100mm. I'm trying to find a PL Mount lens extender that will work with my Kowa 75mm, preferably one that will a) maintain the 2x squeeze and format, b) still be sharp all the way open, and c) will maintain the anamorphic flares and general feel of the lens...

I have been recommended the IBE Optics 2x PL Extender from one friend, but it's really expensive at $5,500ish and I'm not even entirely sure it accomplishes all that I listed? He also mentioned that there is an earlier version of it that just doesn't cover full frame and is cheaper, has anyone heard of that?

Can anyone confirm this IBE Optics can accomplish what I'm looking for, and has anyone used or heard of another PL extender that works with anamorphics and may be cheaper? Trying to get my hands on one before a shoot on June 17th...

THANKS!!!

James, I can demo for you the Atlas LF extender tomorrow in Burbank.

Dan, Do you have any sample imagery of that extender being used on YouTube or Vimeo by any chance?

Edited: I saw your post on YouTube. Loved what you guys had done. However, is there any way to correct horizontal deformations?

Not to highjack the thread, but...Conversely, out of curiosity, is there an anamorphic adapter like Laowa’s that can go on spherical primes to emulate anamorphic? Obviously nothing beats anamorphic but in certain situations it could be useful.
