Are there MORE "font" choices available in APP CS5.5 or CS6, or elsewere ??

In APP CS5, CS5.5, and CS6 there is a very limited selection of font styles, etc, for use in the head and/or tail credits of a film.

Is there anyway to increase this choice to larger and more fanciful styles of lettering within the program ?

Or, is there a way to use the ones already in the programs, but alter them into something else?

Or, is there some "inexpensive" plug-in that contains many, many different font styles, etc. ?

Thanks for your time.

Adobe uses all the fonts that are on your computer. The more you install the more options you'll have. At least that's the experience I've had.

Mine sure doesn't.

Or, maybe it does, and I just don't know how to access them. All I see, are the ones in the "Title" drop down file.

If that is so, would someone be kind enough to tell me how to access them in APP CS6 ?

Thanks,

George

I thought everyone uses Photoshop. Wander through dafonts.com & download away (watching licenses restrictions of course).

P.S. The title tool within Premier is clunkiest piece of software. I avoid it all cost , even when doing clappers.

My experience is the same as Pete Lutz's. All of the fonts (hundreds of them) that are on my computer are available in PP CS6.
I am on a PC and don't know how fonts work if your are on a Macintosh.

Thank you David, but my question is still, HOW DO I ACCESS THEM from the Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 Program?

Please someone just explain that to me.

Thanks,

George

In my case (PP CS6 on PC Windows 8), I open File/New/Title and give the title a name. The title screen then appears. In the title screen, choosing the type tool, I type a keystroke in the title screen preview window which then opens the title Properties side bar. The first option under Properties in the Title Properties side bar is Font Family. When I open Font Family, all of the fonts on my computer are available. Hope this helps.

A lot of the fonts you download from the internet are either non-compliant to the way Adobe wants them, in the wrong format or are simply corrupt. A font is not just a font - There are several common formats and Adobe seems rather specification strict with what they allow for use in their software. AEFX is the same way. As a general rule, if the font is installed, it should show up in PPCS6 and all other Adobe applications but this is not always the case. Try some other fonts from different sources.

From Wikipedia:

Type 1 and Type 3 fonts
Type 1 and Type 3 fonts were developed by Adobe for professional digital typesetting. Using PostScript, the glyphs are outline fonts described with cubic Bezier curves. Type 1 fonts were restricted to a subset of the PostScript language, and used Adobe's hinting system, which used to be very expensive. Type 3 allowed unrestricted use of the PostScript language, but didn't include any hint information, which could lead to visible rendering artifacts on low-resolution devices (such as computer screens and dot-matrix printers).

TrueType font
TrueType is a font system originally developed by Apple Inc. It was intended to replace Type 1 fonts, which many felt were too expensive. Unlike Type 1 fonts, TrueType glyphs are described with quadratic Bezier curves. It is currently very popular and implementations exist for all major operating systems.

OpenType font
OpenType is a smartfont system designed by Adobe and Microsoft. OpenType fonts contain outlines in either the TrueType or Type 1 (actually CFF) format together with a wide range of metadata.

I think the TrueType (.ttf) are least supported by Adobe which makes sense. I know I've used them before though. Likely in Photoshop as it seems the most forgiving of all the Adobe platform. Remember - Adobe got their start making fonts!

BTW - I really like the title tool in PPCS6 Mike, I guess different strokes for different folks!
