  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

are proxies enabled for epic

The qt component hasn't been enabled for Epic yet but is being worked on and will be.

Thanks, Deanan.

Right now, I see the Export to QuickTime Wrapper feature, which generates the proxies, but they currently play green...

Looking forward to having this in EPIC.

Hi Deanan.
Can you tell when, approximately?

Oops. Edit today my post, I forgot Deanan can't help anymore!!

Proxies enabled yet? I really like my old workflow of editing in none other then my shitty FCP7, send to color to connect to R3D's then back over for final output.

That won't work anyway, since I doubt Apple cares for Epic/Scarlet with Color any more.

Rather use RCX instead, make offline ProRes Lt files in lower rez and learn Resolve for grading.

I'd also chime in... just to state that I also (still?) see some possible use/purpose for in-camera generated Proxies.
Proxies allowed me to quickly review/check Audio without booting up RC-X. At some points it's been useful for simple/fast previewing of the footage (just previewing - I don't mean quality control here [not possible with color/gamma-shifts, but still useful to check framing & stuff]). It was quite handy before and I'd still say: would not hurt to have it... especially with no audio during playback at current Firmwares (EPIC/SCARLET).

A first quick test of generating Proxies in RC-X currently failed for me (EPIC, 2.0.5 - RC-X Pro latest Mac Build)...

It won't read Epic R3D files. And since Apple gave up on Color, I went to Resolve. Start with the free lite version, does everything the full version does except export higher than 1080.

Ok that makes sense. I guess proxies are still good for quick playback through QuickTime.

Neither do I, but give it a shot, might work again now.
