  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Are any of you getting your side handles yet?

No, that is inaccurate. The Epic and Scarlet CAN operate with only the Touch LCD.

No it's not. I have just done a shoot without the side handle, only using the touch screen.

Got mine just under two weeks ago
 
So far Red has delivered most of what I ordered apart from:

DSMC Side Handle: ordered with my package at 11:23PM PST on November 3, not yet allocated.
DSMC Ti Canon mount: ordered with my package at 11:23PM PST on November 3, allocated on February 20, not yet shipped.
DSMC Modular Assault Plate Pack: ordered with my package at 11:23PM PST on November 3, allocated on February 20, not yet shipped.
Sliding Top Handle: ordered on February 10, allocated on Febrary 29, not yet shipped.
Red Pro Primes Set: ordered on Febrary 10, not yet allocated.
18mm Red Pro Prime: ordered on February 10, not yet allocated.

There are a few extra things like a case for the primes, an extra 2' LCD/EVF cable and other small items which I imagine will ship with larger items over time, but those are the main things that I'm still missing. Of these things I either need the primes or the Ti Canon mount to have a shootable package in my possesion. Until that time I can rent stuff (mainly PL lenses), but I received my Scarlet with Ti PL mount on January 20 and haven't been able to make consistent use of it yet. To be fair, I was in California until January 31 so I didn't technically have the opportunity to use it until that point.

This is definitely not a complaint as the same type of delay would be true with almost every one of Red's competitors. Most January orders of the C300, for example, are not supposed to ship until April or possibly even early May. Hopefully the allocated items are shipped this week and the primes and side handle allocations/shipments will follow shortly thereafter.
 
Is there a way to use Scarlet without 5" Touch, side handle or redmote? Not all features but maybe just record footage with a standard setting or something?
I was only planning on getting the side handle (and NOT the 5" touch or redmote) but since it seems so far away from delivery (ordered November 7) I´m looking for another way to do this..

Maybe I´ll cancel the TvLogic 5,6" and get the Touch instead... Is the 5" touch good enough for focus pulling?

...or maybe I´ll just have to be a little patient...? ;)

Bud if I were you, I would be on the phone with my Bomb squad rep... You've been allocated for quite some time on a few items with no tracking.. I would have been picked up the phone!

I had a nice chat with our bomb squad rep yesterday and he said that most of our extra accessories shipped in the FedEx package that went out the other day. The only exceptions are the Canon mount which should ship before the end of the week and arrive early next week and the side handle which should follow shortly thereafter.
