Hello everyone.

We're doing a 2-camera RED shoot, which will be no more than 5 minutes in length when done, and that will involve some (light) compositing. I was wondering what workflow you folks would suggest. I've come up with two separate workflows, and do not know which one is best (or if there is a better one I do not know about). :001_huh:

These workflows are based on the tools we have in-house, but if need be we may go to another post house as a fallback option.

Workflow A:

  1. Ingest on set, mess around in RCX.
  2. Back at HQ, edit in FCP with the Clipfinder/proxy based solution.
  3. Send to Apple Color, do work there, render out as DPX.
  4. Back to FCP, export entire timeline to *something* (DPX)?
  5. Do the light compositing in AE, and then export to delivery.

Workflow B:

  1. Ingest on set, mess around in RCX.
  2. With RCX, transcode it all to *something* (want to "burn in" new color science).
  3. Edit in PPro, and then send it to AE for some work.
  4. Delivery.

As you can probably tell, I'm not that familiar with the Adobe-based workflow. Normally workflow wouldn't be a problem for me, but on this project we need to involve some work in AE in the whole process.

I know there is a flood of information regarding workflows and such, but my searches haven't quite yielded the answers I need. Thus, any help would be appreciated.

Thanks everyone!
