  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Applying heatsink to Radian TX and RX to help with heating?

If you're going to cool the casing, then you want to make sure that as much heat transfer from the chips to the case happens. So I would also open them up and make sure there's some thermal pads in place so that the chips transfer a good amount of heat to the case.

Case is made in plastic...

I think the best approach is let these alone and let the holes on the sides to exhaust the internal heat (by design)

Yep, the holes are for creating a suction based on the difference in density of the air once heated, it's this way by design.

The only better way to tackle this would be rehousing the units in aluminium cases with big integrated heatsinks which would provide better passive heat dissipation but the value of these tx/rx make this approach overkill imho...

In the past I used Paralinx Arrow systems (same thing) for years without issues...these were indeed very hot too but probably within the thermal design limits of the Amimon chips inside.
