Apple working with Red on FCPX Plugin !

Christoffer - if every time I responded to you or referred to your posts I called you a "dickhead," how much respect would I get? How much would I deserve? I have pointedly, I believe, not resorted to name calling. I find the term "fanboy" offensive because it disparagingly suggests one who isn't thinking for oneself. That is not me and I don't think it applies to many of the other individuals here who feel optimistic about FCP-X.

I have spent a good portion of my career studying the subject of marketing "high involvement products" to "enthusiasts." The science of enthusiast behavior suggests that these enthusiast consumers are not so much brand loyal as loyal to a level of quality and desired features. And yes, it is possible for these individuals to be professionals who choose their tools in the same manner. (What creative professional is worth his salt who doesn't have a certain amount of passion and enthusiasm for what he/she does and how he/she does it?) Often, it is these buyers who will quickly change products if a better product comes along or the product in question stops meeting their needs. Certainly, this is what is happening to some FCP users right now. But, there is also a legitimate group of us who are willing to wait and see. If our optimism fails to prove justified, then we will certainly seek other solutions. Timing and the evaluation process is a very individualized thing.

To me, it seems ridiculous to keep criticizing those who are hopeful and optimistic about the future, or even the present, of FCP-X. I personally don't care if you don't like it. I really don't care if you criticize it. Just please stop telling me how I should think about it. Just accept my optimism. That doesn't mean I am "unprofessional." It doesn't mean I am a "fanboy" or "Apple apologist." And it doesn't mean I am any more right or wrong than you.

EDIT: Apologies for the previous misspelling of your name. Fixed now.

I never called you a dickhead, fanboy or anything. I said fanboys are annoying people who destroy constructive discussion. If you feel that "fanboy" is aimed at you, then that's seems more like you put yourself in that category. As for, let's say Chris, I'm not the only one saying fanboy. Last time I checked someone implied he's smoking pot. I dunno, but fanboy is something you earn by acting in a certain way.
I have the deepest respect for most people in here, but when someone clearly speaks like a true textbook fanboy and people can't stand the enormous posts of vague assumptions as answers to their posts, then calling that person a fanboy is pretty unavoidable. I'm not the only one using the term.

But if you think I called you a fanboy then I have to say I didn't, sorry if you took it that way. But why are you defending those who clearly are fanboys? They aren't constructive, they aren't objective if someone asks for help and they only care for other people as long as they are on the same level of "love" for the product as they are.

What is THAT to defend?

I give up. I guess name calling is just something you don't want to abandon.

What do you mean? As I said I never called you anything, what are you refering too? Looks like your answering someone else, read what I write first. I even wrote "But if you think I called you a fanboy then I have to say I didn't, sorry if you took it that way." -which is a kind of an apology for something I really didn't do. Now you're just being rude for real.

You are the one aiming my words at yourself, not me.
