I just got a new 24" ACD. I'm not using it for critical color evaluation but would like to get the display as accurate as possible anyway. Any suggestions on the best software hardware combo for under 1K.

Would something like Color Munki or Spyder Pro be a good route?
 
My 2c; Just use the advanced tools in the monitors system prefs panel. These monitors have no hardware adjustments and so, for me, it's just frustrating trying to do anything more. Just my opinion.
 
My recommendation is EyeOne Display 2.

Hear and experienced bad things about Spyders. Spectral Cal reports 50% of Spyder probes are not accurate so they trash them. They even had some contest about how they should creatively trash Spyders.
