I suppose this cauld be a little early to ask such a question since we havnt even seem any working prototypes (that I know of). I presume, however, that subsystems not affected as much by ASIC design have already been long in the works. So I hope RED can chime in here.
I know you strive for quality in optics and seeing your RPPs and RPZs in use on set I can say I'm happily suprised at your cost/quality tradeoff. In the scarlet package you will obviously be targeting a lower cost and thus lower featured market.
In many low cost optics I've experience the phenominon where your apertures maximum fStop is available at the widest FOV. However when zooming in you loose almost a stop.
Has the lens on the fixed Scarlet been designed to lessen or eliminate this undesired feature? I could always shoot at a wide angle and correct distortion later, but it would be nice to have a constant fStop through the range.
