I think I find that the people in the professional market who complain most about Apple not telling us what they are going to do next, happen to be RedUsers.

I think we all get spoiled here with Jim, Jarred, and the rest of the RED crew just telling us what they're doing and when they're going to do it. And then, most of the time they are late.. and by late I don't mean by days, but most of the time months. For some reason thats ok though because we know that something is coming and we get excited for it only to be delayed. Apple is the complete opposite. They don't tell anybody that they are working on something so that when they are late, or when they can't deliver on a promise, they don't let down everybody. Its different because the markets are different.

Trust me, something great will come from Apple this year, it will go into the same yearly refresh rate that there was before. They had some hic-ups, much like RED did with their cameras when they were upgrading, much like they are having now with the Drago color science. Much like most companies have who develop new products. Do not worry, Apple will have something for us this year. It will be exciting, it will be new, and it will be powerful, and even though I'm sure it will go into refresh yearly, i'm sure the first generation will be enough for most of us for quite a long time.

That's the difference between being a private company and a public one. One can announce roadmaps years ahead if they want, stick to it or not, and move - the other cannot.
