  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Anyone use Panasonic 12 series monitor?

Can you explain the connectivity between my editing system and the 58" 12 series plasma monitor? I'm just trying to figure out which parts I need to make it an industry standard/color grading monitor.

I'm planning to buy the parts today. Thanks for the help.

It depends on what Video card do you have in you mac ?

But I suggest Single link SDI/HDSDI and dual port HDMI cards. The dual link HDSDI does not support SDI (SD video so isn't that useful).

Panasonic new HDMI card isnt yet out that supports HDMI 1.4, it may be that they don't use V 1.3. Also depending on what Vide card you have you may find you can generate HDMI and not Dual link SDI for instance if you have the Kona LHi or the other way around of you have a Kona 3 ie dual link SDI but not HDMI unless you generate the HDMI from another card ie Red Rocket or the GPU card.

I'm not currently using an external monitor so I don't have a dlink card or anything.

Does anyone know where I could buy the 58" 12 series monitor in Florida?

You will need a Red Rocket card, AJA card or Blackmagic card.

For starters Id sugest a Kona LHi but it is single link but does have HDMI or a Kona 3 which I don't think has HDMI on the break out box.If your working with Red then check out Red Rocket.

Kaku, which HD-SDI board did you buy for your S12? IS the HDMI 1.3? Lim

Hello Tai Wah,

I got the dual link HD-SDI and the dual HDMI with 1.2a I think. Dual HDMI mean that it has two HDMI ports.
