  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Anyone try out the viewfactor wireless FF?

Anybody hear what the range of the device is and if there are any interference issues with other wireless units on set: walkies, modulus?

The range is 500 feet indoors, up to a mile outdoors. All data is encrypted and sent out at 2.4 GHz.... its very tolerant of external interference. The Impero radios are FCC approved and you should be able to run dozens of units at the same time with no problems.

All I can say is you guys are helping us make a much better product by all the positive feedback. We look forward to getting these things out as fast a possible without compromising quality

Is it possible to see the FF somewhere in LA?

Mike

Edit: Never mind. Found it.

Curt,

What's a realistic shipping date? If I ordered now any ideas when I'd get one?

Curt,

Is it possible to do another one of those videos you did for the Inclino/Impero but with the latest version you have and post it on Youtube or something? I'm thinking it's nice to have 3 motors but I don't see myself using that many unless it's on a big crane or heli where I don't have access to change iris/zoom settings by hand.

Thanks!

Norm

New orders for the motors will ship in June. We did an initial run of 125 units.

Yes, we are going to have something up next week.... this week is hectic just catching up on everything.

Hi Curt
I missed to visit your stand at NAB, sorry, so here my question: can one Impero control 2 FF motors in parallel? I would need to use them for stereoscopic filming.

Then I didn't understand well if Impero controls also the Iris?

I saw the unit of cMotion and was very much impressed (I could have full control for both stereo cameras as for FF as for IRIS), but kicked to dead by their price.:((( .... 15.000.-$ and up

Yes, Impero will be able to control up to 6 motors (3 in standard ZFI, and 3 as slaves). Basically you can control one motor and the corresponding slave motor will duplicate the movements of the first motor. We've had about 4 different 3d camera companies approach us and ask for this functionality.

What is this follow focus exactly? Do you have a link?

Closer to the end of June.... the lead times for some of the components are upwards of 8 weeks. We have enough material for about 100 units of the motors but just placed the order for the next production run only a couple weeks ago.

Hi Curt & bros,

Nice to get some feedback from NAB. I placed my order within 24h of your webstore going online (I was checking everyday for weeks !), would that mean I'm in the fist batch of 100, and if that's the case, when can we hope for delivery ?

Cheers,
Damien

What order date is the last getting one of the first batch?

Need any beta testers?

Yup, you're in the first 100. Delivery will be around the 3rd week of May.

We hit 100 units about two weeks before NAB.

We do, but we also have a tight schedule... so we're using local guys that we can get feedback from quickly... if you want to move to southern california then its a go :)

One button calibration for all the motors. It takes less than 20 seconds to calibrate. The only time you would have to manually calibrate is if you don't have any physical stops on the lens - the procedure is a bit different in that instance and would take about a minute to do.

looks like a great follow focus....
whats the possibility of a hand controller that allows iris and zoom control as well as focus?

Hello Curt,

Missed your booth at NAB. I second the hand controller. Give me an EFP style rocker arm for cine/red glass with a wireless Zoom, wireless start stop, and 3rd assignable wireless channel. Maybe make it wooden like the old Aaton LTR handles.:turned:

I saw this setup at NAB and within minutes, put money down on an order. Once I receive the Viewfactor FF, I will be selling off my Chrosziel Studio follow focus, it's THAT AWESOME..

One thing I liked about Viewfactors demo, was that it made the Red 18-50 feel like a million dollar lens, mechanically speaking..
