Was watching this today.

Its set in 1800's England. Watching it thinking, "man... Period films just look better on film, it's so organic"...... Went to look up what lenses were used on imdb, and holy crap its shot on R1MX!!!!!! Totally ready to rethink my camera choice on period work.....

Good movie too. Glen Close was amazing.

I've seen it a few months ago. Probably the best feature shot on RED ONE M-X.
Stunning cinematography and DI.

I dunno. I think Hugo looked pretty good, set in the 1930s, and it was shot completely digitally and even emulated the look of turn-of-the-century B&W silent film... and won an Oscar.

I think in the right hands, a great DP can make the camera create a period look if that's the desired goal. To me, it's all about the lighting and the exposure (and the final color correction).

Yes yes, I've been fooled by Red and Alexa on a few movies already. Good times, it's gonna be even harder to tell the difference, when movies shot on F65 and Dragon start coming out (in case of the Dragon - couple years from now). Sony already looks mighty filmic in highlights (as far as I can see from the test reels and a few bits from After Earth) and I expect Dragon to perform as good or better. And then, especially after things like FilmConvert applied in post... good luck with the betting game, he he.
