  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Anyone know what camera snoop dogs "sensual seduction" was shot on?

Very cool. Very creative.

Question. Couldn't' they have shot the same video on a RED with Zeiss lenses and then made it look like the finished look in post so they could change their mind later if they wanted to? That's how I would have approached the same objective. I mean, they did run the final through a VCR which was smart but they could have likely introduced the other desired artifacts digitally or with analog equipment in post as well. I just think it's too risky to potentially blow a $500,000 shoot (talent, make-up, travel, etc) on something you don't know will work out or not. Better to shoot RAW on EPIC with the best lenses money can buy and get it in the can and then experiment in post digitally or with analog equipment if digital won't do. For example, they could have output the R3D to 16mm film and scanned that back in.

Would love to hear other opinions on this.

Glad it worked out for them though. :)

Well, yes they could, but it would be a waste of money to use post to simulate image characteristcs a medium can offer you from the start.

If the original concept is 80s video look (and the director is sure of it) I'm sure the change to a 2010 crisp digital look wouldn't even be a remote probability.

betacam SP - not VHS - period music vids were never shot on VHS.

Nice concept, well executed, although I thought the colour psychedelic thing was a bit long - needed 2 - 3 more gags, but that's just me.
