  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Anyone interested in a Leica mount for the RED?

Damn! For thirty years, myself and evey other camera and optical tech. and engineer I worked with in Hollywood thought it stood for flange focale depth.
What a bunch of boneheads we were. lol

Be carefull what you take for fact in wikipedia.

The beauty though Chuck is that if you know better, Wikipedia is an "open source" for you to change it so it'll eventually will be right

I have almost every single one of those Chuck. Hence why I bugged Kevin for the M mount.

12mm F5.6, 15mm F4.5, 21mm F4, 28mm F1.9, 35mm F1.2, 35mm F2.5, 40mm F1.4, 75mm F2.5

Yeah, Chuck, where were you? At LART?

No not at LART. I had my pennies saved up to ride the Big Gray Doggie down to L.A.for the original date (three days of doing sheet rock, I HATE sheet rock) but the construction trade slows down here in the N.W. about this time of the year so I didn't make it for this test. Besides most of the help I could have offere was based upon the original date being at a shop that had a collimator and thru the lens projector at it. And most of those questions have already been resolved.

We are looking at the Leica mount now and it looks like we may be able to accomplish it with only one part changing in relationship to the Canon FD mount. The same may be true for a Nikon F mount (manual lens version). I will be posting some renderings later this week.

Good news Kevin.

Thanks man. Hey Kevin, what is the difference in depth between the Canon FD and the Leica?

We are developing for the Leica R first. The Leica M mount may be possible, but it is so close to the body to imager dimension that it would be a completely different approach. Have not looked at the screw mount.

Kevin

Leica R is a good decision.

M is always difficult.

And you can attach some M lenses on R adapter and Viso M adapter too.

Screw mount is discontinued.

Chuck,

that's true,

it's a clone technology.

By the way I've just got Voigtländer ULTRON 40mm F2 SLII Aspherical.
But with Nikon F mount.
Great little and light lens.
Also can be attached later on RED.
Have a look below.

Johann Strauss by Night shot with Voigtländer ULTRON 40mm F2 SLII Aspherical on Nikon DSLR D50. Exposure 1/60 sec at f/2.8 at ISO 400.

Nice Sanjin,

Do you happen to recall what stop you were at and the film stock you used?

Below the image it reads: "Exposure 1/60 sec at f/2.8 at ISO 400. Nikon D50."
