Does anyone have a large venue 2k or 4k professional projector for rental for a movie premiere set for Halloween in the LA area? This is for a 30 to 40 foot wide screen at the Alex Theatre in Glendale. Maybe 8K to 11K lumens? Contact me if you have one or know of someone with a projector. I'm releasing The Cursed Man movie on Oct 31, 2016.

You should use a projector capable of doing 14fL on a screen that big, and those are not cheap. You would most likely be better off renting a screening room that already has a DCI-compatible projector. There's at least 30-40 reasonable screening rooms available in LA, and prices generally vary from about $500-$3000 for a 2-hour rental -- more if you need a cocktail party, parking, and all the amenities. You're not going to be able to rent a projector alone for much less than this, mostly because of the setup and transportation.

Sound is another problem. Bringing a whole digital projection setup to (say) a legitimate theater is not for the faint of heart.

Yes these setups are not cheap by any means, but we've done it. There are rental companies which rent projectors but expect to pay, especially since you need to ingest first, locate a power source capable of running the projector (20 amp service), a Dolby Digital unit (CMP750), the sound cables, speakers, and subs...not to mention a screen. I really don't like inflatables myself but people do like the convenience.

FWIW The Barco 10-SX does just fine on 27-35 ft screens. It has more than enough lumens and is the most affordable of the bunch.

We have some very big Christie projectors and they are avail in LA. Are you going to playback DCP or HDCAM SR? Try to avoid Bluray unless it's the new 4K ultra HD HDR flavor, which you should be able to author by then.
