Hi guys,

so I bought a lenzhound from the marketplace to use with my Raven when it arrives, just managed to get the power cable shipped put it together but cannot work out how to use it despite watching the calibration video. Can someone with experience tell me what I am doing wrong?

That is some very strange behavior. It looks like the motor isn't in the right power mode or somehow some of the settings got changed to something other than the default settings. First, check the DIP switches on the unit to ensure you're getting the most power out of the motor. Check here, under Motor Power Settings to see what to do.

If that doesn't do it, then try plugging in the remote to your computer and use the D.I.G Uploader to reset the controller to the default settings. Maybe the previous owner changed the settings to a lower max speed — I remember having to do this to power some heavily dampened cine lenses without the gear skipping.

Also i would why are you moving the focus wheel while you calibrate?
You should leave the focus wheel where it is and just do the standard calibration for lens mapping, Then move the focus wheel.
Also so you know the switches for playback and z-mode speed up the calibration if you have a long throw lens.

No I didn't know that but thank you both I will give that a go!

Are these the right motor settings?

Yes, I double checked on mine and that should give you full power. I was going to recommend posting to the motion dogs forums as well but it looks like you've already done that. Let us know if you figure out what the problem is!

Yea I will do. Hopefully haven't been sent a dud unit it's probably too late to use PayPal protection

Depending on which firmware it is on, makes a difference on how you calibrate it. Mine has the newest firmware... you you wait till it comes on. Then hold down the dial till it flashes and turns red... dial it to the infinity mark ( you do not have to touch the know on had controller at all ). Then once its at its infinity mark you push a gain... wait till it turns red. Then dial to close focus and push again. The motor will reset to infinity. If thats not how its working look into the old calibration method, or updating firmware.

yes call them, I have one also, make sure your powering from the usb to dc not usb to usb, using with ronin m

just to follow up on this - amazing customer service over at Motion Dogs! Even though I bought this used on the marketplace here and there's obviously no warranty what so ever - the guys at Motion Dogs sent out a fast replacement free of charge!

I JUST got my red-color edition LenzHound and used it on a shoot last night (I opted for it as it was cheap and I didn't need it to be battle-worthy). Besides wishing it was quieter (and having a button lockout switch), I have no complaints.
