Anybody used Light Iron Live Play or and Todailies

Hi,

I have been looking at Light Iron's Live Play, Todailies and their Light Iron Server.
Really liking their concept except that all the clips have to be convert in to H.264, I would like to see ProRes light something that could also be used for mobile editing.

Well I would like to hear your experience with these applications.

The reason for converting to H264 is two fold: first, to create something that is a small enough file that it can be transmitted wirelessly to multiple devices within the area at the same time. The second is that it's a format that is compatible with the most common mobile devices, i.e. iPads.

Metadata is an amazing thing. Producers, directors, DP, any other notables, can all have an iPad, walk around with it, watching the clips that were shot that day, or yesterday, or whatever other clips you have loaded, all with them as they go. They can watch, mark This one's good, that one's bad, that one is good at the beginning but bad at the end, etc., etc., and all that notation gets logged as metadata.

And then!

And then, you can take that metadata, and connect it back with your ProRes, or your DNxHD, or your R3D raw, or your other raws, all within your editing program of choice. So now your editor can easily sort out the good and the bad.

Agree with Nick's post. For DIT, at least you have a very powerful machine, so that you're not waisting your time just to make Lo-Res version. For ToDailies, You have to have big storage for your devices, min 32 GB.

I'm using it combines with QtakeHD Video Assist. And my client can watch it straight away after the QtakeHD stop recording.
