  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Any way to modernize Lomo Square Front lenses?

I made some space in my inbox. It looks like my 35mm might be done by april. I will of course post pics reviews etc, here.

I've just bougth an old 80mm from 66 and it seems that the coating is very different from my 35mm and 50 mm from 82.
Is it normal?
 
Yes, coatings changed over that 20 year period ;-) But I have a 35mm from I think 83 or 87 I can't remember, and it cuts fine with my '70s lenses.

Update -

I have a big anamorphic project coming up and my lomos were not going to be done being rehoused in time. I had them overhauled instead. Lens place still wants them back to do the rehouse in a few months. In the meantime, i;ll have the lenses back in a week, and I'll let you guys know how they are after the overhaul. If they are good, I'll ask if the guys who did it are interested in doing more. I'll keep you updated with progress and what happens next.

A new square front lomo owner joining you guys. Nick, would love to be added to the list! Have a 35, 50, and 80 I'd love to get rehoused.

Holy hell. I just got my square fronts back. The overhaul that was done is outstanding. All lenses are smooth and tight, no problem with a wirelss FF. Good enough that I now question having them rehoused ;-)

Eastern Enterprises in Japan did the work. Was around $2k. I'll post some pictures in a bit.

Sitting on a set of NAS and BAS lenses that are optically and cosmetically excellent but too stiff to use. Have a round front set that Focus Optics serviced and are great. But they're sitting on several lenses that Stuart never seems to have the time to get to and I'm afraid to send more. If there is someone else skilled at working with these, I'd be very interested to hear!
 
Quick note, I found out the price for Lomo overhaul will be a little higher than I quoted as I got a bit of a discount. Just so there are no surprises ;-)
