  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Any way to adapt this to p-tap?

Just buy a battery that has a PTap on it or buy a battery and a battery plate with a PTap. That battery is meant for a burst of power, not a long sustained high amp draw. You can, of course, make custom power cables. I have soldered and crimped many such. But the real deal is the real deal for a reason...

I have some Sony to V mount adapters and a V mount plate with a P-Tap so maybe that will work instead.

I don't shoot enough (I quit) to justify buying a proper P tap battery set, but the flex light is nice for vlogging and I own that battery pack already. It has low drain USB ports and the specs are virtually identical to most P tap batteries in terms of mAH and voltage but I suppose it's more complicated than I realize as the USB ports are too low drain and the jump start thingy presumably too high drain?

Honestly, this will probably work totally fine to run some lighting.

You might (or might not!) run into problems trying to run your camera on this battery.

Imagining that the MAH rating is shifted - in other words, this might be a lower constant current battery, but with a high peak current ability due to a burst capacitor or other similar step up circuitry.

for lighting I wouldn't worry - you could also get a barrel to barrel adapter instead of female p-tap.
