  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Any tests with RedEpic W and medium format lenses?

I'm hoping to one day find an adapter that will let me try my Hartblei SuperRotator on my Epic-W. The glass in it is quite good, but it also has an impressive tilt/shift range. Still no comparison to what you can do with a technical view camera, but something I'd love to have a chance to try out for landscape photography.

I have done a lot of testing with medium format glass. There are some medium format focal reducers in the works, which should launch next year for the RED platform. There is a larger crop on the lenses since they are meant for MF...so, typically your widest lens would be a 24...but that gets a lot longer with the crop factor. Still, I was able to get wide enough in most cases. Check out my vintage wins thread...has lots of MF stuff.

Hey, the question was Epic Helium with MF lenses :-)
Thanks for your thread, Chris. It is one of my favorite threads.
I saw a lot of pictures, and last weekend done some test with Hassy and our Scarlet W, and image is really impressive. But anyone done this with Epic Helium?

I'm just getting started with testing a handful of Mamiya glass on the Epic-W. I have a 45mm 2.8 that I have shot a bti on and have been really pleased with the sharpness and focus fall off. I also have a 110mm 2.8 that I have not been able to shoot yet. I have a lot of EF glass and a set of CP.2s. I think these will fall in the middle for me in terms of a run and gun option. The focus is long enough for critical focusing but still short enough to do without a follow focus if needed.
