  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

any shipppng Weapon top plates without cables??

I think omod is coming out with one. Saw it on there site. Also small rig has one in the works which I told them if they aren't going to have pogo connectors built in to there plate they should allow the usage of the brain pogo and not block them. Im sure there will be lots of options soon.

What's your reason behind this? If it's for the DSMC2 monitors, you can get a WC Top Plate and get thier Lemo to Pogo Cable.

Yes Off Hollywood has a nice small top plate.
The wooden one is great but is still taller because of the EVF passthrough and POGO connection.
I would certainly wait until after NAB. It is only a week and much will be revealed ...
Swiss maker Action will have something as well as the above companies and TILTA

No I have the older monitors... I have some niggles at the moment with our weapon cameras and am unsure if it is the camera or the top plate. Would like to create one camera that answers the question.

The Offhollywood plate looks good..

Thanks for the responses.. I have seen other plates on images on Instagram but they where probably prototypes..

yes, that the easy X top plate. I tried to put it on the top of my weapon, but it didn't fit. how in the world did this guy figure it out?

I got to see the Movcam top plate at NAB and it checks all the boxes for me... My only concern is whether or not it will be able to do everything they say it will. They said their engineers are still tweaking the internals of it, but it has the following features:

LEMO (Epic style for touch LCD)
POGO pass-through on the top
two HD-SDI outputs
HDMI out
3-pin trigger port
Two Aux 2-pin LEMO power outs

Another awesome thing is that they have a pretty slim hot-swap battery that can sandwich between the body and an expander (I'm using the V-Lock Expander). There is apparently a bridging connector from the top plate to the V-Lock expander's top D-tap port (I'm assuming this is where they'll pull the power for the two Aux LEMOs), alternately their hot-swap battery has a d-tap in the same location so you could pull from there.

Now, they are claiming that all video signals (HDMI, 2x SDI, pass-through POGO, and LEMO) are all pulled from the single POGO connector on top of the camera. Is this possible? Seeing as how Wooden Camera uses both POGOs to yield two LEMOs and Tilta requires a cable-connected SDI input (to split it into two SDI outs), I'm very skeptical about their ability to pull all this off.

If they do, I'll be blown away and will definitely get one. That's a load of features packed into one top plate. It also doesn't interfere with the smart handle connectivity.

Yeah I spent some time at their booth and it really left me scratching my head. There was serious broken english issues, but if they get this thing to actually work, it will be pretty slick. There is so much electronics going on, it much be a nightmare to QA.

Waiting to see more of this one myself, especially the hot swap unit. I can retire the bulky Switronix Jetpack-X, which blocks the rollers from the WC Quickback. It works, but it's been an ergonomic challenge.
