As our ears has the genic ability to locate sound in the natural world and recognize sound changes of directions, distances and movements, I’m wondering if there was a post production software
to make a Virtual Reality immersive listening experience with 3D surround effect just as we hear sound in the real world, not that kind of sound effect which seems to spin around in your head.

IS there no one here know a post-production software that can be used to edit 3D audio?

The latest Pro Tools and even Fairlight mixing/editing software can handle Dolby Atmos and Barco Auro, both of which can do more than 12 channels (actually up to 64 in the case of Atmos).

The challenge is not so much the software: it's the monitoring required to hear that kind of 3D environment. The acoustics of the room and the number of speakers is a challenge. There's only so much you can do with two speakers.

Hi Simon! Thanks for your feedback. Actually I have found a customized VR audio post production software called Scenes Studio Pro. Scenes Studio is a professional VR audio post production software, which could be used to simulate the spatial audio in the operation interface just given the X,Y and Z coordinate. Below pic is the operation interface of Scenes Studio Pro.

As the pic shows, you could easily add or delete sound source( every color stands for a sound source) to the interface, and you could add various audio( including external audio file) you want to be edited. Also, you could set the track movements of each sound source. For instance, the orange one I added is a guitar’s solo. And I set its movements like that, and the sound effect you will hear moves as the track does. Also, Once you have set the movements’ track, just click the “Start” button then you are able to see its move and hear the sound source’s directions, distance and movement change as the “orange ball” moves following the track. As the pic shows, you will hear the sound starts from the left rear to the right rear, and up to the right front and down to the ahead, and from the left front back to the left side. Of course, you can add and delete sound source as you want, and adjust sound source movements track. Also, you can adjust the virtual room size by setting its length, width and height.Once finished editing, you can saved the edited audio and use any earphone or headphone to hear the 3D surround sound.*
