  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Any pics of Epic with redmote + Anton/Bauer power?

I'm ordering my accessories for my Epic and am trying to figure out where to put the Anton/Bauer batteries. I'm using the Hytron 140's (no airline limit, high capacity, handle heavy draw) and had them mounted on the top of my Red One via 19mm rods and the ET plate for the Anton/Bauer gold mount.

For my Epic configuration I'd like to keep the Redmote mounted on the back (since it sounds like it is pretty much a door-stop once you get 1m away) so would top-mount still work or is it better to extend the rods out the back and have the brick sit on top of them?

Action products seem to have some great looking stuff but there is no allowance for the Redmote to stay mounted.

Any ideas or pictures would really be appreciated.

Cheers!

Hello Paul,

Here is a Scarlet build I put together with the Anton Bauer Matrix Plate w/ Gold Mount mounted to 19mm rods with the Redmote. These rods could have been a few inches longer, but still allowed access to all the buttons and the removal of the Redmote. With the Matrix plate it is possible to turn the battery 180 degrees so it hangs down below the camera giving you unobstructed access but there are counter balance considerations in doing this.

Hope this helps-

Hello Paul,

I just wanted to suggest 2 ActionProducts solutions that may be what you are looking for.

The ActionProducts Battery Module has a range of mounting options. If you were to mount the RedMote on the back of the EPIC, one solution would be a power supply on rods behind it like you mentioned. The ActionProducts SwivelMount can do just that. However, our modular Battery Module can also be mounted on the back of our ShoulderMount, as well as on our other power accessories. Let me know if there are any questions!

Thanks Conrad, that looks like what I'm looking for. I want to keep the Redmote mounted on the back and don't want it obstructed. I've ordered the top mount for 19mm rails and will mount the battery on top of them. Do you have a wider/profile shot of the components you're using?

Cheers,

No photo, but one other option: mount the A-B directly onto the Epic (with Wooden Camera or any of the other plates that clip onto the back of the Epic), then use Viewfactor's screw-in Redmote bracket to put the Redmote on anything with a 1/4-20 tap. It wouldn't charge, of course, but it's an alternative to thinking that the Redmote *must* be attached to the back of the Epic.
