  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Any of the Lens gurus ever hear of this?

I actually just bought a 9.5-57, they are smaller than I remembered them, depending on how big this guys hands are this looks a little bigger than a 12-120. It's also clearly engraved with the 22-132 on the front barrel.Hmmmmm. And whats up with the Helical gears on it? I've never seen that on any Ang. lens.

I have a bad feeling I should have bought this ;-)

Edit- I see your point about the 6x zoom factor however.

Would look bigger if it was a modified 9.5-57 as it would have an additional optical group behind the original lens. Which kind of looks like the barrel extension at the back of the lens.

I wonder if the gearing is from a zoom crank mechanisim. You could buy that lens with one.

Does the lens cover 35 format? We use to do that to different 16mm format lens such as the 12-240mm zoom back when to cover larger formats

I can see it being an Ang. modified 9.5-57 design. I don't think the gears are for that goofy crank, because they are on all three barrels. Definitely a weird lens.

Never seen this one before. I have seen a bunch of Angenieux zooms for sale on eBay that were made for 1" video. It could be one of those that someone put a PL mount on. If it covers 3k or 4k it could be very nice, but I don't think I would buy it without testing it first.

Ohhh yeah... LOL

I bought this lens...

I bought this lens...

Yeah a RED Owner bought that lens.

I just got done doing a lens test, and everything looks really great. The movement is smooth and the glass is pretty much perfect condition. The lens is about 9-10 inches long. The front element will easily work with a 4x4 matte box.

There are only 2 slight problems:

First there are no "etched" focal distance marks. Which means you can turn a bit past the closet usable position. When that happens some slight vignetting on objects at 1 meter. As long as you don't focus past 1.25 meters everything is great!

Second when you "zoom in" the front most element moves forward about 2/3 inch outside the exterior barrel housing (so watch how close your matte box stages are).

Other than that it is awesome. I would highly suggest to any one who ever runs across one to take the risk! I couldn't be any happier

PS: If anyone finds another one for sale I can up load some images.
