Any ideas what to do with all this media?

[Greg Merkes]

I am stuffed with media. Any solutions for long term storage of all this footage would be great. How is everyone dealing with all this content?

A couple big RAIDs... Backups and archives to LTO-3/4 tape. I'm filling at least one 800GB LTO-4 tape each week, sometimes 2 or 3.

what is lto-3/4 inch tape?

Sorry if I wasn't clear about that. It's LTO tape. The 3 / 4 was to say either LTO-3 or LTO-4, which are the two current versions, holding 400GB and 800GB respectively -- those are uncompressed sizes. This form of tape is pretty much the industry standard (IT industry, that is) for data backup and archival. There are several threads on here about various tape drives and software options.

For those of you looking for non-linear storage, (near-line). I suggest the Facilis Terrablock.

This is an enterprise near-line storage solution that works with any operating system.
