  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

any HD set monitors <$1K worth considering?

Nice but I'm really wondering about projection. I think it would be a nicer setup for watching dailies. I know that you can get a decent DLP 1080P projector for around $4000 but what I am wondering is whether redcode would have to be transcoded before I can get a HD or 2K picture out of the HD-SDi card and into the projector. Also, I'm wondering what the issues are with FCP, gamma, and external displays. Can you project an image from REDCINE? That would feel safer to me, and in any case since we are watching Dailies (tired from the day's filming), I want a solution that requiries the least amount of NLE involvement.
Can I ask how you are managing this OffHollywood?

Sony has a new monitor check this out

Yep, that fits the parameters of this thread quite nicely. :whistling:

Dell has upgraded their 2407WFP to include large color gamut. I'm seriously considering the 2407WFP-HC + HDLink.

The wider color gamut is not necessarily a good thing... you'll need the right color management to get the colors correct.

If you are only targeting Rec. 709 displays (e.g. TV), then a gamut wider than 709 does nothing for you. In that case, a monitor with exactly Rec. 709 gamut would be the best.

Yep, used that Pana monitor many times. It's a staple of HD sets these days.

Just don't want to spend $4K.

I have a pana monitor and it was no where near 4k. they have a rebate now I believe that will get you in the 2600 dollar ballpark
