  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Any Films Shot with LEICA SUMMILUX C Primes?

I'm not sure I love the images I'm seeing from the Leicas thus far. But I can't quite figure out what's putting me off... clearly they're crazy sharp, but that's nothing new.

Perhaps it's that they look to be somewhat in the middle of the aesthetics that you get from Cooke S4s/S5s and Master Primes without the enveloping warmth of the former or crisp, coolness of the latter.

I dunno... really need to see more sample footage to get my head around it.

The size/weight/speed of the Leicas holds so much appeal.

This video compares the Leica Summilux-C lenses to the Zeiss Master Prime, Panavision Primo, RED Pro Prime, Bausch & Lomb Super Baltar & Hawk V-Lite 1.3 Anamorphic: https://vimeo.com/76715682

The Leica's and Primos leave the others behind. I liked the Hawks too. I did not like the way the master Primes render Bokeh. But thats my view only, others will vary Im sure.

Iron man 3

Iron man 3

Iron man 3 used them and also X-Men: Days of Future Past.

I saw THE BOOK THIEF two weeks ago at the Arclight in Hollywood. Nice film and Florian Ballhaus's fourth with the Leicas after GAMBIT (underrated if you enjoy a good art caper film) and LULLABY (which I don't think is available yet) and HOPE SPRINGS.

For TV they're going into their 3rd season on BONES. Also did SUBURGATORY and RIZZOLI & ISLES.

That set was from TCS…
Just shot a PSA for Sandy Hook w/ CPT's set…. They are both great companies!
