  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Any F1 fans excited about the USF1 announcement?

As a Finn (living in Sweden) I naturally follow the F1 circuit and Häkkinen. This is great news, it will only make things more interesting.

I'm thrilled. Very happy to see Dan Gurney in a key role. This will hopefully renew auto racing interests in the U.S., and defocus NASCAR a bit.

I wish. Sadly no relation to James. I'm the first nutjob in my family to step into a race car.

Very excited! I really think they can put together quite a team, and maybe they can talk Scott Speed into leaving the Oval Parade.....

Yeah, I'm excited, even though I'm a Ferrari fan, and been so for the past 20 years, having blown as much money on camera gear as on Grand Prix tickets :-) Anyway, I knew this would happen one day or another, I just lament the fact that when it finally happened, the American automakers are all teetering on the brink on bankruptcy, I so much wanted the American team's car to be a Corvette! Anyway, they should do well, Peter Windsor is a wise, savvy man and he will help immensely. Rooting for them.

It is about time... but we'll see how it develops. Marketing will be the make or break aspect. I hope we'll get a race here in LA!

Screw Ferrari... nothing but an overpriced engine blowing go cart.

Roberto, I'm assuming/hoping you're kidding when saying "screw Ferrari" for you should know that phrase can get you killed by loyal tifosi. I have shot 3 documentaries at the Ferrari factory in Maranello and interviewed several members of the F1 team and can assure you that those guys' passion and absolute commitment for what they do is unsurpassed, even for the 20 years they spent without winning a championship before becoming an "overnight" success. Furthermore, Ferraris have blown engines less than any other team in the past 20 years, but let me stop, I'm heating up here :-) Also, though I don't mean to preach or teach, marketing is NEVER the make or break in F1, the sport itself does the best marketing job in the world, with the biggest TV audience platform of any sport/event year round ever. Budget management and application of technologies is and has ALWAYS been the deciding factor in F1. LA is not set up to host an F1 race, there are no tracks there anywhere near close to adequate to host such an event...

hehehe... got ya goin'

I am a BIG underdog fan. That said I hold an Italian Passport (and two more). I am talking smack and I am not planning on stopping that, especially when Ferrari fan boys are so much fun to piss off. Hehehe... call me crazy, but I admit it.

I am well aware of the lack of F1 tracks... I am talking shit but I am not talking out of my ass. :-)

You would be a complete moron not to understand that the Ferrari team is the tip of the spear in motor technology engineering. Especially when the day comes that F1 takes alternative fuels/technology seriously.

As to marketing, if you wish to have several F1 tracks built and you want them to get payed off within 20 years, then you will need to get lots and lots of people to the track. Lot and lots of commercials... you need to consider hooking at least a portion of the Nascar guys. There is only a certain amount of "machine" loving people in a given place/country. Many of those here are die hard Nascar guys. Though US media doesn't treat F1 like it used to, and hasn't in a long time. But I am not trying to sell myself as an in-the-know type of guy, I have no clue about the numbers... I don't even a decent understanding of the USF1 market... there are people doing those jobs though and I am sure they will be smart guys. But at the end of the day, you will need to make some of those guys love USF1.

First step in doing that was already accomplished... call it "ours"... US in the USF1 will help a tremendous amount.

I am just trying to say that it is a monumental goal to set and a large mountain to climb. Though I believe it can be done, I don't want to get my hopes up cause it would suck if I did and it crashed and burned.

Ferrari sucks!

I hadn't heard this news. But now that I have I'm really excited.

Now we just need to get Rally racing popularized as well.

See this is what happens when you elect a pinko commie president. Next thing you know we'll be going to soccer matches... Oh WAIT! http://www.soundersfc.com/
