Any experience with this style of quick release?

It's similar to the Sony ENG release system. I'm looking for a quick release system so I can quickly bounce between my Manfrotto 509HD to my Steadicam. Maybe a couple of this style bases with a plate on the Scarlet? I plan on using Wooden Cameras Lw15mm bracket and riser so I wouldn't be using the rail system that comes with this system.

Any alternatives are welcome. I know about Red's quick release system, just looking for some alternatives.
