  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Any chance to get the RED Raven sooner?

Hi everyone. I wouldn't be making this thread if I wasn't desperate. I am new to the whole 'RED' scene. I have always since I was a kid looked up to RED, from the minute RED One came out in 2007 I was hooked, and told myself that one day I will be able to afford one of these amazing cameras. My father has known this and due to him dying of cancer he has decided to get me 'a good bye gift'. We pre-ordered the Raven a week ago. I understand that the delivery for the Raven is allocated depending on when you set in your pre-order. My father is deteriorating, and I am afraid that he is not going to be around by the time I receive the Raven. I would really like him to see the footage I can create using this incredible camera. Do you think there is anything I can do to get the Raven as soon as possible? I'm sorry for posting this, but like I said I wouldn't be posting this if I wasn't desperate. Film making is my passion and I really want to share my passion with my father.

Sorry to hear about your dad. Don't think there's a way to get the Raven in any expedeited way, unless if you have like some direct ties or connections to people at red? If you want to showcase the abilities of a raven, just rent a weapon and film with that at 4.5k and below.

If I had an order in i'd swap with you. Lets bump this for a bit. Somebody out there has one that's not that big of a deal to them. It's a big deal to you. Somebody help a brother in cinema out. Sorry to hear about your dad. As much as the physical manifestation is important to you, I'm pretty sure your dad mostly cares about the gesture, and what it means to you. I'm sure he knows it makes you happy at a sad time.

Happy to swap timestamps with you if they'll allow it. I was Sept 26th for just a brain, but I can't foresee timestamp swaps messing up what kind of item gets delivered. I'm sorry to hear about your dad George. Having someone you love...support you and your craft is priceless. Obviously, time is of the essence for you and I hope RED is able to pull some strings, but always remember, the camera doesn't make you an amazing filmmaker...you do! So even if you have to use the camera in your pocket to show your dad the passion you have for filmmaking...that you'll always have a piece of him in your heart...it will mean more to him than anything you could ever imagine.

I agree, film making is a forever learning art. You can never 'master' it. I have been making small films since I was 11; my father has supported me every step of the way. But he wants to see the image I can create using the Raven especially with the 300fps at 2k. That was the main factor that made my dad pre-order it.
 
I can't let you man. I don't want to take anyone's place in the queue, its not fair.

Thanks to Brendan's amazing offer, RED was able to switch the timestamps between him and George.

To this day, one of the projects that touched me the most was a father who ordered a RED ONE to leave a 4K diary to his family after he was diagnosed with cancer. He wanted them to be able to remember him still looking vibrant and healthy...
 
Brendan, I couldn't thank you enough. Thank you to RED and everyone that was involved in making this happen. From behalf of the Bellamy family. We are eternally grateful.

Thats a magical story Brent. I hope to do this with my father. He is currently using a Flip camera.
