  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Any chance of both timecode tracks in the proxys?

Since QuickTime supports multiple timecode tracks, and FCP lets you choose whether to use the primary timecode track or an auxilliary timecode track, it would seem to make sense if both timecode tracks recorded by the camera were passed into the QuickTime proxys. Any chance this feature may be added?

The camera actually stores both tracks (RED ALERT only creates a single at the moment!). As far as I know FCP doesn't use this second track. If someone has other information please let me know!

FCP doesn't use a second TC track in a QuickTime by default, but you can choose to use it if you want. Currently you can add a second TC track to a proxy QT manually in FCP by doing /Modify/Timecode. Then you can choose which one to use by right clicking the timecode field in the viewer window.

This is often very useful, for example in multi camera shoots where the cameras were synced by slate not TC. You can put the A camera's TC into the Aux1 TC track of the B camera.

Since Red has two real TC tracks, it would be great to be able to access both in FCP.

Bravo! Bravo! Bravo!

According to my sources that's not really possible, unfortunately. I'll dig some more...

We are already writing two Timecode tracks, but no application seems to use the extra one apparently...

Avid can track and use up to 10 timecode tracks of any frame rate... so it would be useful to get two timecodes and all of the metadata out in some format then the NLE of choice could use any or all of the metadata to the limits of its capabilities.
