  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Anton Bauer

Has anyone tried attaching the Wooden Camera or VF backpack to the back end of a shoulder mount? Or is there a rail solution that will enable this? Trying to stick with my Frankenrig 15mm rail setup, it's too good to let go of.

Arnold: I am in the same position. I have an Anton Bauer setup from my other cameras, will love to be able to use it as a longer-run alternative instead of having to get multiple redvolts and chargers. And I really don't want to have to ditch my Anton Bauer and get V-mount instead. I was looking at the new VF Anton Bauer Mount: http://www.viewfactor.net/index.php/products/epic-acc/apu-ab.html
And for $700 seems like the best way to go. A bit expensive but it is everything you need. In all the other options, like wooden camera it looks like you have to get an additional plate, backpack, or mounting system, which ends up costing almost if not more. I was also talking to Zacuto, and they may be working on an Anton Bauer solution too.

The plate I linked from BH requires another part?

Hello Arnold,

The QRC EPIC you linked to the B&H site does require some sort of mounting surface, like our MATRIX cheese plate, in order to work. The solutions from both ViewFactor and Wooden Camera will also make your Anton/Bauer batteries compatible with the EPIC/SCARLET cameras.

There is MG1 Concepts' Anton Bauer Gold mount too. A bit cheaper option.

Do all battery systems, even RED's own, require a plate of some kind? I'm used to expensive gear but a plastic battery plate for $600 is an extreme example.

The battery mount is around $400. The plate to mount is up to you. VF solution includes the mount and plate. Wooden's price for the mount is the same but offers a simliar option as VF but it's more modular. MG1 is also offering a solution similar to Wooden but I haven't seen how it mount to camera yet. ANyway you slice it, you will be paying at least $400.
