  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Anton Bauer vs. V-Mount

Our rental house is also 100% Anton Bauer and we just have a few V to AB adapters for a few Sony monitors that have V backs. I had a client a few weeks ago who wanted V mount batteries for an item he owned and wouldn't accept an adapter, so we called around to 3-4 other rental houses and none had V mount batteries.[/QUOTE]

I agree. Our rental houses in Atlanta are predominantly AB. Even their RED cameras are adapted to AB. And there are many aftermarket battery manufacturers that are the same price as V-mount.

Question: I own four of these 90Wh AB-style batteries: http://www.batteries4broadcast.com/gmb09.htm
Will these power the Epic OK? Says 55W max load, but Epic is 60W max load right?
So will I need the 150Wh / 90w max load version of these batteries?

I haven't received my camera yet, so I can't test yet...

Thanks,

One more question... Can any V-mount charger charge any V-mount battery? I want to be able to charge Bebob Rouge 140W batteries (V140RM) and RED BRICKs on a Bebob Rouge Dual Charger (VS2RL). Based on what I've been reading, it's my understanding that this is possible. But, could anyone confirm?

Anyone?

Dude... take a chill pill. New Years Eve/Day, everyone has been hung over and avoiding the world, or out enjoying their family and friends... when someone who knows the answer sees your question, they will reply.

The "Anyone?" post is quite possibly the most annoying thing someone can do on a forum. :mad2: :beatdeadhorse5:

For Lithiums usually any Lithium charger is OK. The Bebob battery is slightly diferent in its chemistry I beleive so you will need to check that out. We charge Red Bricks on IDX chargers perfectly fine here. My guess is its fine but Bepop should be the first port of call for the answer.

Sorry...

By the way, you do realize that there were no less users online yesterday than any other regular day, right? (9,000+)

I had V-mounts for 4 years with my Red One. I went with Anton for my Epic and not looking back. I bought 4 of the 90 wh dionics. Love them. Very small. Travel safe. Lots of power

Are you using the Dionic 90s or the Dionic HC? How much time to you get per battery, and are you running any other accessories (wireless follow focus, additional monitors etc) as well? Thanks Rick!

Dionic 90s. About 90 minutes per battery without running anything but Brain/Side Handle/Red Mote/LCD

vinny how long does it take to get a full charge on the switronix batteries listed above?

If you mean how long does the battery charge, just let me know what charger.

If you mean how long with the XP-L90A run the epic/scarlet and the tv logic monitor, 1hr-1hr 15min.

sorry for lack of clarity. how long does an empty Switronix XP-L90A battery take to fully charge on this charger:
Switronix : GP-2LAJ Two-Position Charger

This is all really good stuff, and very timely. As I will be getting my scarlet and no way to power wirelessly until sometime in Feb. I have been looking at both options to see which I should go. It seems obvious in this forum that AB's are the way to go. Thank you all for this great info!

+1 on your battery choice:)

I get 1.5-2 hours out a 98WA battery dependingon accessories attached. Having percentage is not as useful to me as voltage, which is the more common standard, and the same reading you'd get with a block battery in studio mode so it's more consistent. Basically below 13V you need to keep an eye on the battery and at 12.5 switch it. Pretty simple.
i use the Viewfactor APU with a set of modified ET 15mm pieces.

You can kind of get a sense of it in the pic below...

@Vinny - Since you are probably something of an expert on Switronix, :-) ---> Can you confirm that Swit batteries won't charge on an Anton Bauer charger? Thanks.
