It is just me or do the options to get power into the new cameras seem way overpriced? Whats to stop me buying the Scarlet AC adapter clipping the lemo and length of cable I want.

Then using it to replace the cable on this official Anton Bauer QR-UNIV Universal Gold Mount Battery Adapter from BH?

Total: USD 280 Mount this on my Zacuto Zwiss plate and away I go... and they are both in stock!

you should be able to buy the lemo by itself and replace the xlr cable on the AB mount..
or have remote audio make an xlr-lemo jumper cable for you... maybe cheaper

Its quite possible to do exactly what you're saying Adam. The feedback we're getting is that most people don't want to go through the trouble of breaking out a soldering iron, wire strippers, a continuity meter, wire ties, adhesives, and ideally a testing unit so that nothing catastrophic occurs. We've been offering this service for a few months

I find that bit fun! I used to play with lego, now I play with cameras :-) I might still end up buying your AB plate Jason.

Hi Folks

Our Epic should be shipping shortly and I'm ordering up all the various accessories we're going to need. I have our original Anton Bauer QR-Red gold mount plate from our RED One camera but I gather that this won't work and we've been told by AB that we need to order up the QR-Epic plate at a cost of around £280 or $430. Can anyone explain what has changed with Epic's power input and if it is possible to have our existing QR-RED AB plate adapted rather than purchase a new plate.

I'm also wondering if AB battery duration/time remaining etc. can be monitored on Epic - we couldn't do this on RED and had to rely on the AB lcd screen on the battery to keep tabs on time left.

Many thanks.

Best wishes

Scott

Hi Scott,

1) You can use the 1B-2B adapter cable in the Red store to use your old plate, at the cost of adding a long length of cord to your system;

2) You will see remaining voltage on the monitor: when it hits 12.5, it's a good time to change (for long term battery life). When it dips below 12, definitely time to change.

Also a note to everyone--Anton Bauer posted here recently (as in a month ago) asking if the cable length they provided for the QR-Epic was proper. (Currently you have to wrap it around the camera and do a little weave on the back to keep it contained). They asked what length folks would prefer. As I recall they received so many different requests they probably gave up.

Hi Ryan

Many thanks for this information; the in camera voltage indication is great news as we had many occasions where our batteries simply died which I know is bad for battery health!

Do you know technically what has changed with the battery plates? Could we for example have someone simply take our existing QR-RED plate and change the cable/connector as I would imagine this would be the simplest and most cost effective option?

Best wishes

Scott
