Considering that the Anton Bauer mount is a shorter assembly than V-mount options... is there a AB assembly that sits flush with the top of the Epic rather than poking out above the height of a top plate... without intruding on the IO on the lower back of the camera?

Thanks,

Here is what I do with my ABs:
Attach an adapter module or +1 module, this gets things out away from the connectors a little bit.
Use a Goldmount Quickback from "those who shall not be named" to go on to that. I have a little safety tab on the top (a piece of brass) that I use to make the Quickplate captive and unable to slide up and off accidentally. This is unlikely to happen -- you would need to hit both sides of the release by accident -- but you are not using the four screws designed to mount it securely to the camera, so it could. A detached battery plate would cause serious damage to the power lemo, so I play it safe. I'm not next to my cameras, I don't recall if this is flush to the top or not, but it doesn't interfere with the top rods I use a lot.

Something I'm about to try:
I just got a Red Backpack adapter plate. This mounts to the adapter or +1 module the same way any other module does. So it goes on quickly, but is rock solid. if the threads work out, you could mount a V dock profile (I think RED makes one, I have one from Viewfactor) and this allows the Quickback to go on to that. Same caveat, make sure it can't come off. The cool thing about the V dock profile, assuming the screw holes line up, is you can adjust its position on the cheeseplate higher or lower and thus where top of the battery ends up. You also might be able to bold a goldmount plate right to the Red Backpack adapter. That would be really secure and easy to put on and take off (since it uses the same mechanism as any module). Might not have the same flexibility in terms of how high the battery ends up.
